RULES, ETIQUITTE AND DRESS CODE

At the Okeechobee Golf & Country Club, we strive to maintain an environment that is conducive to the game, and encourages proper behavior.  We want ALL of our members and guests to enjoy their experience here both on and off the course.

To ensure the "Quality" of your experience, we ask ALL members and guests to abide by the following rules during your visit:

General Rules and Etiquitte

1. All golf course play shall be under the direction and supervision of the Golf Professional and his representatives. All members and guests shall comply with the requests and suggestions of the Golf Professional for facilitating and speeding play on the course. Misconduct of golf etiquette or violation of course rules is to be reported to the Golf Professional, and disciplinary action will be taken by the Board of Trustees.

2. All members, guests, and others having the privilege of playing the course, MUST register in the Pro Shop before teeing off.

3. All play shall start at the Number One Tee unless otherwise permitted by the Golf Professional or his representative.

4. All golf practice shall be restricted to designated practice areas. Practice on the course is not permitted.

5. Replace or sand all divots, repair all ball marks on the greens, rake foot and club marks in traps. Keep power and pull carts behind the white lines designated around the greens. Power cart users should observe the 90° rule at all times - except when restricted to cart paths only.

6. All tournaments must be cleared through the General Manager and approved by the Board of Trustees.

7. No pets or livestock shall be allowed in any area of the club, except in the case of handicap assistance needs.

8. No jogging or bicycling shall be allowed on the course after 7:30 a.m.

9. If a group (4 players or less) should fail to keep their place on the course and lose a distance of one clear hole on the group in front of them, they should invite the following group to pass through. Groups must keep pace with the group in front of them, or yield to the faster group following them. Keeping pace to be defined as no more than one open hole between groups in play.

10. Players looking for a lost ball should allow the following group of players to pass through and should so signal.

11. Instances of unusual delay and slow play shall be reported to the Golf Professional. In the event of repetition by the same individual or group, the matter shall be referred to the Board of Trustees.

Dress Code Requirements

The following requirements pertain to dress for the golf course, practice areas, putting green and the clubhouse. These requirements are to be in effect at all times. It is the responsibility of the member to inform his/her guest(s) ahead of time of these requirements, before they arrive at the club to play golf or use the clubhouse facilities. 

It will be the responsibility of club management to enforce the Dress Code Requirements. Members should NOT personally enforce the Dress Code Requirements with other members, but should report infractions to the Pro Shop or General Manager. Members introducing guests to the golf course or clubhouse are responsible to see that their guests are properly attired in compliance with the Dress Code Requirements. Guests not so attired will not be served, nor allowed playing privileges. Repeated violation of the dress code may result in members having their golf and club privileges suspended by the Board of Trustees.

General Dress Code

• Appropriate golf attire will be worn at all times.  The exception to this will be the pool and workout areas where appropriate dress for the activity is expected.
• Denim, in good condition,  may be worn on the golf course
• Metal spiked golf shoes of any kind are not allowed.  Non-metal spike shoes are the only acceptable footwear allowed on the golf course.
• Sweat suits of any kind will not be permitted in the grill room or the fine dining room.   They are acceptable attire in the locker rooms, pool and workout areas.
• Golf hats / caps or visors are not permitted in the fine dining room.
• Shorts are not permitted in the fine dining room.

 Men’s Dress Code

• Appropriate golf attire shall consist of shirt and trousers or tailored shorts and shoes.
• Shirts are to have collars and sleeves.  Tee shirts and tank tops are not allowed, however mock turtle or turtle neck shirts are acceptable.
• Shorts are to be tailored and have a length no shorter than mid thigh, no longer than the knee.

Ladies’ Dress Code

• Appropriate golf attire shall consist of shirt with a collar or sweater, skirt, slacks or shorts and shoes.
• Tank tops, halter tops, bare midriffs and tee shirts are not acceptable.
• Shorts and skirts are to be tailored and have a length no less than mid-thigh.

Pool Area Dress Code

• Swimsuits are to be worn poolside and in the pool locker rooms only.  Appropriate cover-ups must be worn outside of pool area.
• Swimmers are  allowed to change clothes in the clubhouse locker rooms.
• Members are responsible to see that their guests are properly attired and in compliance with the Dress Code Requirements.

 The Okeechobee Golf & Country Club RESERVES the RIGHT to refuse service to anyone not abiding by our posted rules.

Anyone in violation of the above posted rules may be asked to leave the premises and forfeit any fees paid.

Please ensure each guest in your party are made aware of these rules to ensure the golfing environment is not disrupted with preventable actions.
